Clifton Tall Metal Side Gate

The Clifton Metal Side Gate is perfect for a wide range of home and garden environments where the homeowner will benefit from increased security and privacy. The gate is handmade in the UK and has a 20mm x 8mm welded solid steel framework, 10mm diameter round metal infill bars, and multiple elegant 10mm x 3mm wrought iron style scrolls. The steel surfaces are primed black with a factory-applied undercoat, and they come equipped with easy-to-install surface-mounted adjustable hinges and a tip latch mechanism. It's available in various sizes online, is excellent value for money and is quickly becoming one of our best-selling designs.

• Suitable for a diverse variety of house and garden designs.

• The gate has metal frames measuring 20mm x 8mm, infill bars measuring 10mm x 3mm, and ornate scrolls measuring 10mm x 3mm.

• It comes with adjustable hinges and a universal latch fitting which you can secure with a padlock.

• Suitable for hanging on either the left or right-hand side of the opening.

• Supplied painted with black primer ready for finishing to the colour of your preference before being installed.

Ordering Sizes

• Width (Fits Opening): These dimensions relate to the width of the opening between existing walls or posts. These measurements take into account the space needed for the hinges and latch. Further adjustments are not needed.

• Height (once installed): This includes a ground clearance allowance of 50mm (2") and is measured from the floor to the top horizontal frame. It does not include the scrollwork above.

Example Ordering Size

If the width between your brickwork or supports is 3ft 6", you must select a gate designed to fit a 3ft 6" opening.

Are Metal Post Required?

You will have to add metal posts if there is no support to fasten the hinges or latch. When ordering these items, please remember that they will take up additional space.

Example: A gate to fit an opening of 3ft 6" combined with 2 x 2" posts will require an overall width of 3ft 10".

Important Information About the Clifton Side Gate 

Fittings: The gate includes surface-mounted hinges and a latch fitting. The screws needed to install the hinge brackets and latch receiver plate are not included.

Metal Posts: Only use metal posts that are the correct size and capable of delivering the required level of support. When installing these components, ensure they are sunk to the proper depth and supported by concrete.

Installation: Attach the hinges to any masonry buildings (or other existing supports) only if the structure can handle the weight of the gate. For further details, please see the installation instructions.

Width: The measurement in the menu for "fits opening" includes the space necessary for the hinges and latch. It does not refer to the actual width of the gate. You should read the "how to select the correct size" page if you don't understand this.

Painting: The Clifton metal side gate is factory primed black (undercoat). To protect the steel from rust and corrosion, you must paint all exposed surfaces before installation. Please get in touch with us before ordering if you would like to upgrade to the low-maintenance zinc plated (electro galvanised) and black powder-coated paint treatment.
