For added aesthetic appeal, the gate has a classically arched arch top, a welded 20mm x 8mm metal framework, 10mm diameter round infill bars, and multiple ornamental wrought iron style scrolls. The Clifton design incorporates surface-mounted adjustable hinges and a simple tip latch mechanism that allows for the installation of various stone, timber, and metal surfaces for your convenience.

• Manufactured from 20mm x 8mm solid metal frames, 10mm round metal infill bars and scrolls measuring 10mm x 3mm.

• The gate has surface-mounted adjustable hinges and a universal latch (which can be secured using a padlock).

• Suitable for left or right-hand hanging.

• Clifton side entry gates are black primed (undercoat). You must paint all exposed surfaces before installation to prevent the onset of rust and corrosion.

Ordering Sizes

• Width (Fits Opening): These dimensions correspond to the width of the opening between existing walls or posts. These measurements include the space required for the hinges and latch. Extra adjustments are not necessary.

• Height (once installed): This measurement is from ground level to the top of the arch. Within this, an allowance of 50mm (2") for ground clearance has already been made.

Example Ordering Size

If the distance between your walls or posts is 3ft 3", you must purchase a gate built to fit an opening of 3ft 3". 

Are Metal Posts Required? 

You will have to install metal posts if there is no existing support available to attach the hinges or latch. When purchasing these parts, remember that they will take up more space. 

Example: A gate to fit an opening of 3ft 3" combined with 2 x 2" posts will require an overall width of 3ft 7".

Important Points About the Clifton Arched Wrought Iron Style Side Gate 

Fittings: Surface-mounted hinges and a latch fitting are provided with the gate. We do not include the screws required to attach the hinge brackets and latch receiver plate.

Posts: Only use metal posts that are the proper size and capable of providing the necessary amount of support. When installing these features, ensure they are submerged to the appropriate depth and supported by concrete.

Installation: Attach the hinges to any masonry structures (or other existing supports) only if the structure can hold the weight of the gate. Please read the installation instructions for more information.

Width: The "fits opening" size displayed in the menu includes the space required for the hinges and latch. It does not refer to the gate's actual width. You should read the "how to determine the correct size gate" page if you don't understand this.

Painting: The Clifton metal side gate comes factory primed black (undercoat). You must paint all exposed surfaces before installation to protect against rust and corrosion. Don't hesitate to contact us before ordering if you want to upgrade to the low-maintenance zinc plated (electro galvanised) and black powder-coated paint finish.
