• Handmade in the UK using 20mm x 8mm metal frames, 10mm infill bars and 10mm x 3mm scrollwork.

• Supplied with adjustable hinges, latch and drop bolt.

• Black Primed (undercoat) - You must paint all exposed metal surfaces on the gates with a minimum of 2 coats of exterior grade paint before installation.

Ordering Sizes

• Width (Fit Opening): This measurement refers to the opening size required between existing brickwork or posts. The space necessary for the hinges and latch has been included within this measurement. You should, therefore, not make any additional allowance for these components. To avoid any potential confusion, this means that if your current opening measures 7ft, you should order the gates to "fit opening 7ft".

• Height (once installed): This is the height of the gates to the top of the horizontal framework (once installed) and includes an allowance of 50mm (2") for ground clearance. We have not included the scrollwork on top of the frame within this measurement.

Do You Need to Install Metal Posts? 

If no brickwork (or other appropriate support structure) is available to mount the hinges, you must use metal posts. When choosing these items, it is essential to note that you will require additional space.

Example: The Clifton double gates that "fit an opening" of 7ft combined with 2 x 2" posts will require a total overall space of 7ft 4".

Fittings: For your convenience, we provide surface-mounted hinges, the latch mechanism and in-ground drop bolt as standard with all double gates. The screws to mount the hinge brackets are not included.

Posts: When you need to install metal posts, it is essential to note that they must be of the appropriate size and type to suit your given installation. They must be set into the ground to the correct depth and held in place with concrete.

Installation: The hinges must only attach to existing brickwork (or other support structure), provided it can support the weight of the gates safely and adequately. For more details, please take a look at the installation guide.

Width: This is the actual size of the opening required and does not refer to the physical width of the gates. If you need clarification of this, please refer to the information shown above or click here.

Painting: The Clifton metal driveway gates are primed black (undercoat) as standard. You must paint all the exposed surfaces before installation to prevent the onset of rust and corrosion. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us before ordering if you would like to upgrade to the low maintenance zinc plated (electro galvanised) and black powder-coated paint finish.
