• Width (Fits Opening): These sizes refer to the opening width between existing walls or posts. The measurements already incorporate the space taken up by the hinges and latch. 

• Height (once installed): This comprises a 50mm (2") tolerance for ground clearance. The measurement is from the ground to the top arch.

Example Ordering Size

You must select a gate made to fit a 2ft 9" opening if the width of your brickwork opening or the current space between posts is 2ft 9".

Are Metal Posts Required?

Metal posts will need to be added if there is no support for the hinges or latch to be attached. Please be mindful that these items will take up additional space.

Example: A gate to fit an opening of 2ft 9" installed with 2 x 2" metal posts will require an overall width of 3ft 1".

Fittings: The gate components include surface-mounted adjustable hinges and a simple tip latch fitting. The latch receiver plate and hinge bracket mounting screws are not included.

Metal Posts: To obtain the correct level of support, always select metal posts with the appropriate size and strength. Ensure these items are supported by concrete during installation and buried at the proper depth.

Installation: Only attach the hinges to any existing posts or masonry structures if they are sufficient to withstand the weight of the gate. For more details, please refer to the installation instructions.

Painting: The manufacturer primes the Clifton arched metal side gate with a black undercoat. Before installation, you must treat all surfaces with good quality exterior-grade paint to avoid rust and corrosion on the steel.
