They also include an easy-to-operate latch and in-ground drop bolt to ensure the gates remain secure.

• The steel surfaces are painted with a black undercoat primer. You will need to apply a minimum of 2 further coats of high-quality exterior-grade paint to the gates before installation to prevent the onset of rust and corrosion. 

• Suitable for automation (you may need to make modifications to the gates depending on the type of motor).

Ordering Sizes

• Width (Fits opening): These dimensions represent the distance required between your existing brickwork or posts. We have already included the space needed for the hinges and latch in these proportions. You do not need to make any adjustments for these components.

• Height (once installed): This dimension is from ground level to the top of the horizontal frame. This measurement incorporates a 50mm allowance for ground clearance. The scrollwork mounted on top of the frame is not included in the height.

Example Ordering Size

If the measurement between your walls is 2440mm, you must choose the option "fits opening 2440mm" from the drop-down menu.

Do You Need to Include Metal Posts?

When there isn't a support structure present, you'll need to install metal posts to mount the hinges. If you include these components, please be aware that more space will be required.

Example: An overall space of 2640mm is needed when you buy gates to "fit an opening of 2440mm" and 2 x 100mm posts.

Posts: In the absence of a masonry structure, robust metal posts are needed to provide the necessary level of support. If you pick in-ground posts, they must be adequately buried and supported by concrete.

Installation: The hinges may only be attached to existing brickwork if the wall is strong enough to support the weight of the gates. For further details, please refer to the installation instructions.

Width: The menu's "fits opening" measurements represent the width of the opening between brickwork or posts. It does not depict the actual physical width of the product. If you're unsure about the size to order, please read and understand the instructions on our "how to pick the correct size" webpage.

Painting: The Marlborough Wrought Iron Style Estate Gates are primed with a black undercoat during manufacture. You must paint all surfaces before installation to prevent rust and corrosion.
