Useful Information About the Drayton Wooden Garden Gate

Fittings: The hinges and latch are not included with this gate as standard. If you want to buy these products, please select from the options and accessories menu.

Posts: Wooden posts are recommended for installation of the gate. If you're going to install the posts on the wall, you will need to use bolts (not included). Alternatively, in ground posts should be set to a depth of 600mm to 900mm and supported with concrete. Please keep in mind that the spacing between the posts should be around 20mm larger than the physical width of the gate in both cases to allow for expansion.

Finish: The Drayton design is pressure treated. This process will leave the timber having a temporary green tint to it. Over time this will fade when left exposed to the elements. If you wish to stain or paint the gate, a period of around 6-8 weeks minimum should be allowed after installation before this is carried out to allow sufficient time for the wood to weather down.

Installation: When installing this gate, we recommend using hook and band hinges. For the optimum levels of support, they should be mounted to the top and bottom horizontal bracing. Refer to our installation instructions for additional details.
