• Width (Fits Opening): Please choose the width necessary from the drop-down options. When selecting a size, keep in mind these dimensions relate to the size of the aperture into which the gates will fit. We have already factored in the space requirements for the hinges and latch, so you do not need to complete any further calculations.To avoid any misunderstanding, this means that if your brickwork opening is 8ft 6", you should order the gates to "fit opening" 8ft 6".

• Height (after installation): This is the height between the ground and the top of the horizontal rail. We've included a gap of 50mm (2") for ground clearance within this measurement. The finials on the frame's top is not included within this measurement.

Do You Need to Install Metal Posts?

When you need to utilise metal posts, you must remember that you need extra space for these items.

Example: The Cromwell double gates that are designed to "fit an opening" of 8ft 6" combined with 2 x 2" posts will take up 8ft 10" overall space.

Useful Information About the Cromwell 3ft High Metal Driveway Gates

Fittings: We include a fitting pack with the driveway gates containing the surface-mounted adjustable hinges, latch, and drop bolt. We do not provide the fixings needed to secure the hinge brackets to brickwork or existing posts.

Posts: If no existing support is present, you will need to use metal posts of the appropriate size and design to install the gates. These must be set into the ground and be supported using concrete.

Installation: When attaching the hinge brackets, you should only fix them to existing masonry structures, provided it can take the extra weight. You can find more information about this by reading the installation guide.

Width: The ordering sizes refer to the opening into which the gates will fit. They are not the physical width of the product. For more transparency, you should click here.

Painting: The Cromwell double gates are primed black with an undercoat during manufacture. You should not mistake this for the final finish. To prevent rust and corrosion, you must paint all exposed surfaces with a minimum of 2 coats of rust-resistant paint before installation. Alternatively, we will be happy to provide you with the additional costs of the zinc plated (electro galvanised) and black powder-coated paint option.
