Useful Information About Norfolk Wooden Estate Gates

Width Dimensions: This measurement is the physical width of the pair of gates when placed side by side. For clarity, this means that each pair is made up of the following:

• 7ft pair = 2 x 3ft 6"

• 8ft pair = 2 x 4ft

• 9ft pair = 2 x 4ft 6”

• 10ft pair = 2 x 5ft

• 11ft pair = 2 x 5ft 6”

• 12ft pair = 2 x 6ft

Height Dimensions: The physical height is measured from the underside of the gates to the highest point. When installing, you will need to allow a small amount of space for ground clearance so please make sure you factor this in when placing your order. For best results, we recommend 50mm (2”) for ground clearance however this can be adjusted to suit your driveway constraints.

Fittings: If you need to add the hinges, latch, and drop bolt to your order please choose from the available fitting packs shown in the options and accessories menu above.

Posts: When installing the gates, we recommend using wooden posts. Wall mounted posts may be used if you are fitting between existing brickwork however if no existing structure is in place the use of in ground posts will be necessary. In both instances, to ensure space is available for the hinges, it is important to be aware that the opening formed between the posts should be 40mm wider than the width of the gates you order.

Finish: The Norfolk design is handmade in the UK from smooth planed untreated Scandinavian softwood and must be stained or painted prior to installation to ensure the best level of protection against rot and decay.

Installation: Featuring a framed, ledge and braced design the Norfolk wooden gates will need to be installed using appropriate size hook and band type hinges. For the best level of support, we recommend installing the hinges to the top and bottom horizontal rails. For more information refer to the general installation guide.
