• Width (Fits opening): The drop-down menu measurements correspond to the opening size required between your existing brickwork or posts. We already include the space needed for the hinges and latch within this measurement, so no more adjustments are needed.

• Physical Height: This measurement refers to the actual height of the product. It is measured from the underside of the gate to the highest point. This height does not include the increased space required for ground clearance.

Example Ordering Size

If the distance between your walls or posts is 762mm, you must select a gate manufactured to "fit an opening of 762mm."

Are Metal Posts Required?

You must install metal posts if there are no hinge or latch supports (such as existing brickwork). If you purchase these items, remember that they will take up extra space.

Example: A gate to fit an opening of 762mm coupled with 2 x 70mm posts will require an overall width of 902mm.

Fittings: The gate comes with a latch fitting and a pair of surface-mounted hinges, making installation quick and easy. You must buy the mounting screws separately.

Metal Posts: You must choose the appropriate size and type when installing metal posts. They must be buried in the ground properly and stabilised with concrete.

Installation: You should only attach the hinges and latch to existing masonry or posts if you are sure they can give adequate support. Always read the installation instructions for further details.

Width: The "fits opening" specifications in the menu are the gap size you'll need. This measurement includes the space taken up by the hinges and latch. It does not refer to the gate's physical width. If you're unsure what this signifies, please read our article "How to Choose the Right Size."
