Useful Information About the Carlton Bow Top Wooden Gate

Fittings: The hinges and latch are not included as standard. If you would like to purchase these items at the same time as ordering the gate, please select the appropriate fitting pack from the menu above.

Posts: We recommend the use of wooden posts when installing the gate. Posts that are to be mounted to an existing wall will need to be secured using appropriate size bolts (not included). Where no existing support structure is available, the posts should be set into the ground to a depth of around 600-900mm (depending on ground conditions) and be supported using concrete. To allow for expansion of the timber and free movement of the hinges and latch, the gap formed between the posts should be 20mm larger than the width of the gate you order.

Finish: Pressure treated timber is used in the construction of the Carlton Bow Top design. Upon delivery the timber will have a slight green tint which is normal. Over time this will weather down therefore if you wish to stain or paint the wood, we recommend the wood is left to fade down before applying any further treatments.

Installation: Hook and band hinges are recommended for installation. For optimum support they should be mounted to the top and bottom horizontal rails and fixed in place using appropriate size screws (not included). For more information refer to our installation guide.
