Ordering Sizes

• Width (Fits Opening): This is the opening size you will need between existing brickwork or other support structures. We have already included the space needed for the hinges and latch; therefore, you do not need to make any further calculations or adjustments for these items. For clarity, if the gap size between your brickwork measures 10ft, you should order the gates in the drop-down menu that "fits opening 10ft."

• Physical Height: The "highest point" measurement is from the bottom of the frame to the highest finial. The "at sides" measurement is from the bottom of the frame to the shoulder (the flat part of the framework before the arch starts). We have not included an allowance for any ground clearance necessary when installing. 

Do You Need to Buy Metal Posts?

If you need to use metal posts, you will need to factor in the additional space required for these items.

Example: The Saxon double gates that "fit an opening" of 3048mm (10ft) combined with 2 x 70mm posts will take up a total overall space of 3188mm.

Useful Information About the Saxon Driveway Gates

Fittings: We provide a fitting pack with all double gates, which features surface-mounted hinges, a latch and an in-ground drop bolt. The screws you will require to mount the hinge brackets will not be included.

Posts: Metal posts must be the proper size and type to ensure an adequate level of support. When installing these items, they should be set in the ground and held in place with concrete.

Installation: The hinges should only be connected to existing brickwork on the basis that it can safely take the weight of the gates. For more info, please take a glance at the installation guide.

Width: The sizes shown in the drop-down menu are the gap size you will need to have. It does not refer to the physical width of the gates. If you are uncertain what this signifies, please refer to the "Ordering Sizes" paragraph above or click here for further clarification.

Painting: Saxon metal driveway gates have a low maintenance, zinc plated and black powder-coated paint finish and are ready to hang without the need for painting.
