Hardwood Side Gate Construction

Constructed to a premium standard, our Hardwood Side Gate collection benefits from a robust 95mm x 61mm mortise and tenon jointed framework with a rebated inner section that allows the infill boards to sit flush with the frame. This serves to not only enhance the appearance of each gate but also helps to protect the end grain from water ingress. As a further precaution, the top rails of the frame are rounded over to encourage rainwater to run off, and the use of a frame sealant in areas vulnerable to standing water is applied, thus reducing the likelihood of excessive water ingress and wood rot.

Idigbo Side Gates

Idigbo is a great timber species for gate production, as it is cost effective when compared to other hardwood. It has an appearance and characteristics similar to European Oak; however, it is much lighter in weight. Predominantly yellow to light brown in shade, its straight and fine grain structure is easily machinable to a premium grade finish, and it is able to withstand wet conditions very well. All the characteristics make it a great choice for a side gate in the UK climate. Iroko Side Gates

Iroko comes from West Africa and is renowned for creating a captivating appearance combined with exceptional levels of durability. With a unique grain pattern, a medium coarse texture and open pores, this premium-grade timber can be produced into some truly outstanding hardwood gate designs. With the timber tones varying depending on the part of the tree it is taken from, you can expect to see colour, including pale yellow through to medium brown shades. Oak Side Gates

Perhaps the most desirable of timber, an Oak side gate is truly exquisite.
