Useful Information About the Windsor Side Gate

Fittings: The Windsor gate does not include the hinges and latch as standard. If you need to add these items to your order, please select the appropriate fitting pack from the drop-down menu at the top of the page.

Posts: It is recommended that wooden posts be used to install the gate. For wall mounted posts, it is essential the existing support structure can take the additional weight placed upon it. For free standing installations, the posts should be set into the ground to a depth of between 600 – 900mm and supported with concrete. For both options, the gap formed between the posts should be 20mm wider than the physical width of the gate you order. This is to ensure space is available for free movement of the hinges and latch and to allow for expansion of the timber throughout the year.

Finish: The Windsor design has a low maintenance pressure treated timber construction however this does result in the gate having a slight green tint. Over time this will fade down and become less apparent.

Installation: This gate has a heavy duty framed, ledge and braced design therefore only hook and band type hinges should be used. For optimum support, the hinges should be fastened to top and bottom horizontal rails. For more information refer to the installation guide.
